

James Aubrey Freeland, 97, of Naples passed away August 14, 2016. Born on Christmas Eve 1918 at Youngstown, Ohio, he was the eldest of five children born to James W. and May E. Freeland. He grew up, attended school, and started a family in the Youngstown area before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1947. While in Phoenix he learned the dry cleaning business and in 1957 moved with his family to Eustis, Florida, near Orlando, where he owned and operated Jimmy's Triangle Cleaners. He moved to Naples in 1961, working for Jerry's Cleaners and, later in life, for Youth Haven, Inc. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors by his grill, doing yard work, and playing the organ. His last years were spent at the Lakeside Pavilion nursing home.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy J. Freeland; a sister, Mary Stull of Niles, Ohio; two daughters, Pamela Freeland and Sandra Davis of Naples; two sons, James H. "Butch" Freeland (Lanny) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Danny "Pete" Freeland (Jeanette) of Naples; and a stepson, Wallace Armes (Tirapat) of Bangkok, Thailand. Besides his immediate family, he leaves behind seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 22nd at Naples Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements handled by Hodges Funeral Home.
