Jearl Carl Brown, known to everyone as Carl Brown, of Chokoloskee, FL, passed away April 12, 2011 in Copeland. A lifelong native of Florida (specifically the Everglades), he was born in Miami September 7, 1945. He died at the age of 65.
He was a retired gator hunter and local plumber—he grew up on Fakahatchee and Chokoloskee Islands, worked the family fish houses and loved boating (I don’t think he cared for fishing but did it when necessary). He served in the U.S. Army.
He was the son of the late Alvin C. and Pleamon E. Brown; he is survived by his wife, Helen; his daughter, Carla; son, Jearl; and their mother, Kathryn; step-daughter, Sue Story; step-son Mark Markel; his sister, Laverne Stokes. He has 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Clark; his sister, Yuvonne; and an infant brother.
He is loved and missed by all.
The family has entrusted Care and services to Hodges Funeral Home, 525 111th Ave. N., Naples, FL 34108 239-597-3101. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 20th, 2011 at 6 PM in the Hodges Chapel. Pastor Eric Weldon will officiate.
