Well, first off growing up at the Laffey's Ponderosa was something else. I have never met another man as strong as my Dad was. I know God blessed me with the best parents anyone could ever ask for. I thank you Dad for the Irish Traditions and family upbringing you gave me. I will think of you always and will do everything I can to make you proud. The boys, Robert, Duane Jr. and Sammy will miss you very much. I know someday we will see you in heaven, Until then, Please don't change too much up there....I know heaven will never be the same with you, because we will never be the same without you. Sue & family, My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you - I'm an old classmate of Jeff's - he was one of the 1st friends I made after moving to New City -I know I don't have to tell you he was one of the types of friends who was always there for you - regardless of the situation - too many stories to tell, but in my yearbook he wrote, " Best of luck & success in the future. Never forget all the 'heck' we raised in the past.". I never have forgotten just as Jeff will never be forgotten & is deeply missed. I am so sorry for your loss - Always remember the good times with him & speak of him as often as you can -

Susan, if there is any consolation in my words, it would be to speak of Jeff regularly by remembering your amazing 47 years.  His memory is with you and retelling the famous stories and other moments will help everyone.  Lean on the Lord and know that we are here for you too.

Light up the sky, your special guardian angel is now  forevermore watching over Susan and the entire extended family. Jeff was a joy to have known.

Sue, Doreen, Jeffrey and Casey I am very sorry for your loss. Jeff Sr. had a big impact on my life. Your home was like a second home to me as Jeffrey and I grew up together. Jeff Sr. was a good man and he will surely be missed. Our deepest condolences during your time of sorrow.

"yes, my name's neil and I'm hunting with you tomorrow!"..and so began my 33 plus year relationship with "Moe" Laffey. He'd asked me at least 3 times prior to my adamant retort to his question. this was my very first time meeting all "the boys" at Hubert's Hunting Camp in Sullivan Co., the Catskills, NY state. He sure found my short fuse in a hurry that night! But it was all in fun and the laughs we had year after year could fill volumns of Comedic verse. Add another volumn of deer hunting stategy; what our kids were doing now;  and mix well with Genesee beer and you had the receipe that made up Jeff in those days.  He was one of a kind with few equals.  In later years, as we all calmed down by most standards and Moe and Sue had moved to Naples, we looked forward to his yearly trek to the hunting camp at Lee Hollow, Fremont Center, NY in the Catskill Mts. He (and we) didn't move up the hills as fast any more but we still laughed and joked; shared new memories of grandkids and ailments. ahhh..nuts!..Gonna miss you, my friend.  I wish Sue and the entire family the best with my condolences. love ya.

He was a good man and will be surely missed.

What can you say about someone who touched your life in so many ways? Dad, you drove two hours each direction to and from work to support your family, and never missed dinner time with your kids. You supported me, financially and emotionally, from kindergarten, to high school, college, and law school. Whether it was through chopping firewood , shoveling driveways, or a simple speech, you taught me the meaning of hard work and never to think success is something that is just handed to you in life. While you may have passed away in 2013 due to lung cancer, who else could have first been diagnosed twenty years ago and fought through this disease for 20 years just so you could be sure your three kids were all grown up and to see the birth of your grandchildren? It is no coincidence that my 6-year old daughter Ayden is taking your loss so hard - it only took 6 six years with you for her to love and adore you so much and to see how much of a positive influence you were in her and her sisters' lives.  You are the model father and grandfather we all hope to be. Thank you for everything you have done for me and for making me the man I am today. I will always love and miss you. I know you will somewhere up above eating some shellfish, out on your boat fishing, or watching the Giants - you may not be here in body, but you will always be here in spirit.

I always respected Mr. Laffey. He was a hard working and honest man. I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Laffey, Doreen, Jeff and Casey I am sending love your way. Sorry again.

What do we say at such a very difficult time. Our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers go out to you and your family. Although we have known of Jeff's struggle, it is still shocking news. Bob and I are so, so greatful for the time we spent with both of you. You and Jeff touched our hearts forever. We would like funeral information and time when possible. Just know that although we are far apart, we too grieve the loss of Jeff, one of the most charming, uplifting, incredible man to have known.
Keep up your courage, and know that you are loved and thought of. Goodbye Jeff, wonderful friend with a infectious smile and loving heart. RIP. you will never be forgotten and will remain forever in our hearts.
