

Jerry was born in Fort Myers, Florida on 18 February 1940. A lifelong resident of Naples, Jerry was the son of Valera Storter Barker and Hugh Barker of Chicago. His maternal grandparents were Claude and Callie Storter of Naples.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Military Policeman from 1960 to 1963.
Jerry was married to Joyce Marie Burnett née Barlow from Trimomt, Minnesota for over 64 years.
Preceding Jerry in death are two grandsons, Michael Burnett Kelly and Curt Allan Scott; his parents, Valera Storter Barker and Hugh Barker and his maternal grandparents, Claude and Callie Storter.
Jerry is survived by his children, Dr. Catherine Burnett PharmD (William Kelly) of Naples, Anne Scott (Dr. Gene Scott DDiv) of Naples and Claude Burnett (Julia Cunningham Burnett) of Lake Placid, Florida. He has six grandchildren, Chad and Brian Scott, Richard, Andrew and Patrica Kelly, Rachel Elizabeth Greene (Ethan Greene), Victoria Alicen Burnett, and one great-granddaughter, Della Rose Greene.
After completing his Army service, Jerry received his Baccalaureate from Florida State University and his Master's degree from Florida Atlantic University.
Jerry became a school teacher in the Collier County Public School System, and taught at his alma mater, Naples High School, Immokolee High School and then spent 17 years teaching multiple subjects at East Naples Middle School. After leaving CCPS, Jerry taught History at Edison Community College, later known as Florida SouthWestern State College.
Jerry was a member of the original Naples High School Marching Band and went on to play for the FSU Marching Chiefs. Later, he often accompanied the NHS Marching Band on road trips.
Jerry had a passion for Calligraphy and freely spent many hours carefully scribing various award certificates and other documents for friends and strangers.
His love of photography led him all over Collier County photographing natural environments, wildlife and anything that caught his eye.
Jerry was a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment and enjoyed the shooting sports with friends and family.
A proud member of Grace Lutheran Church, Jerry regularly attended services and participated in various church activities.
Jerry was a 51 year Perpetual Member of Cypress Masonic Lodge No. 295 in Naples Florida. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Ft Myers, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jerry LaMont Burnett-Barker at Grace Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 26th, at 3 pm, followed by a luncheon at the church. Internment will be at a later date.
