October 11, 2014 at 1 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens 525 111th Avenue N. She suffered with dementia and passed in her sleep. We are at peace knowing she is free of this dreadful disease.
June was born in Buffalo, New York on June 12, 1920 to Wilbraham and Mae Knight . She proudly graduated from Buffalo’s Bennett High School. As an avid Buffalo Bills fan she could be heard cheering them on through the good and the bad.
She married Lee C. Miles on July 25, 1942. They were members of Brookfield Country Club and Friday Twilight was the highlight of the week for both of them. June was a member of Central Park United Methodist Church in Buffalo for over 70 years and past president of the Mother’s Club. She also was a member of the exclusive Twentieth Century Club of Buffalo.
Playing bridge throughout her life was a great joy as she made many friends. This didn’t stop once she moved to Florida. June enjoyed her new group at The Strand Country Club immediately upon her move. Such an avid player she was invited to join many other groups also.
In the last few years, she moved to Aston Gardens and then to Juniper Village. She was known as a very outgoing person and always looking for new bridge partners. Many caregivers at Aston Gardens and Juniper Village are to be commended for making her last years as comfortable as possible.
June will be dearly missed by her surviving family members son, Scott Lee Miles (Theresa) of Wausau, Wisconsin; and Dale Ann Cullen (Richard) of Naples, Florida; grandchildren David Lee Millich of Plant City, Florida and Andrew Michael (Sarah) Miles & Anne Elizabeth (Michael)Hanson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; great grandchildren Matthew Lee Millich, Jordan, Camryn & Hannah Miles; and goddaughter Nancy (Ed) Bucholtz of Lone Tree, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Naples United Methodist Church in Naples or Central Park United Methodist Church 216 Beard Ave. Buffalo, NY 14214 in her memory. Internment will be held at a later date in Buffalo, New York at Forest Lawn Cemetery with service at Central Park United Methodist Church.
