Larry Allen Kinney, son, loving father and husband, friend, and avid golfer died on Sunday morning May 31 after a lengthy fight with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by and loved by his family.
Larry was born in Spencer, Indiana on April 26, 1947. Attending Spencer High School and later Indiana State, Larry found the love of sales his true calling. He had an uncanny knack for making people feel comfortable and transferred that skill to a successful sales career in intermodal transport. Larry spent the bulk of his career in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with The Hub Group and relocated full time to Naples in 2001.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marybeth Mahoney, two children, Jill Kinney McCrain of Seattle, WA., Chris Kinney, Minneapolis, MN, his mother Marcella Kinney (who is 103), Spencer, IN., a brother, Stan Kinney of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Phoenix, AZ. and a sister, Suanne Jordan of Camus, WA. and Phoenix, AZ.
Larry and Marybeth met only 11 years ago and married in 2013. Together they made a whole. Larry loved life and would travel anywhere if it included a round of golf. He and Marybeth explored the world experiencing the best golf had to offer usually with a cigar in hand and a scotch after the round.
He was an exceptional father and the best husband imaginable. However, his golf skills were a work in progress.
At his request, the memorial will be a family only event. Later in the fall,
a celebration will be held in his honor.
As a thank you to Avow Hospice and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Avow Hospice located at 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL. 34105 in the name of Larry Kinney. The family wishes to thank Avow Hospice for its loving care and help in the last weeks of Larry’s life.
Goodbye dearest husband and dad--- we love you Larry and miss you. You’ll never be outside of our hearts-ever!!!
