Laura Scott Lanier

Laura Scott Shannon (Connie) LaNier of Naples, Florida passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2012. Born February 2, 1925 in Galveston, Texas to Idabell McCormick Shannon and Conway McLean Shannon, she attended Ohio State University.

Connie lived for many years in Schenectady, New York and Slingerlands, New York. She served on the board of the Schenectady Symphony and acted in several productions of the Schenectady Civic Playhouse and Union College. She also served as president of the Albany Medical Center Auxiliary for two years, and of the Albany Institute of History and Art for two years. In Naples, Connie served on the board of the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts and as a member of the Naples Community Hospital Auxiliary and Naples Garden Club. For many years she enjoyed participating with the Pelican Bay Songbirds.

She is survived by her son, Philip Scott (Ann) Leever of San Jose, CA, her granddaughter, Amy Michelle (Brian) Harper of Campbell, CA and her grandson, Jeremy Ryan (Julie) Doss of Mocksville, NC. She was predeceased by her second husband, Robert Stephen LaNier and her daughter, Cynthia Shannon Prescott.

Interment will be at Naples Memorial Gardens through Hodges Funeral Home. Services will be private per Connie’s request.
