Maria F. Cole
December 3, 1916 – June 2, 2019
Maria Frances Cole, 102, Naples, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by people who loved her on June 2, 2019. She was born in Long Island, New York on December 3, 1916 to the late Louis Corliss Cole and Clemencia de la Moneda.
Maria was born the fourth child of five. Two lovely sisters Elena and Hilda along with two brothers Luis Felipe and Thomas (Thomas) Joachim. Maria and her siblings were always proud to have a family with a lineage rich in history and of nobility. They’re equally proud, if not more to have been raised in a large loving family and close relatives.
Maria’s passions from the early age of four has always been composing songs and rhymes which she enjoyed doing with her father. She loved taking photos of family, people, and places. She also loved beautiful clothes that her mother would design and custom make for her. She enjoyed posing in them and having her picture taken.
Maria prayed for years to be blessed with a son and her prayers were answered when she gave birth to her only child, Felipe (Philip) Luis Alejandro. Maria and her husband, Felipe Gutierrez shared the joy of raising their son until his passing when Phil was only 8 years of age.
As a young widow, Maria met a wonderful, loving, and caring man named Berardo Garavito who was also her best friend. They often traveled back and forth to Sacramento, CA to visit her grandsons. Maria is survived by her son, Philip (Kim) Gutierrez; grandsons, Philip Alexander Jr. and Jon Michael; great granddaughters, Kalie and Ali; nieces, Mary and Hilda. Maria also enjoys the time she spends with her caregivers, Maria Elena, Junie, and Ann.
Family and friends of Maria are welcome to pay their final respects at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with funeral services on Friday, June 7th, 2019 at 12:30.
