For the DeLillo and Ziakas families, I hope you can celebrate Marianne's life today as it was filled with grace and love.  Four years passing and we think of her often.  Love all of you, Cousin Michael.

I moved away from Naples and I just noticed this about Marianna.I feel so bad I did not write to you sooner.She was the nicest lady-I bought a lot of beautiful things from her when she worked at Jacobson at Waterside.

Dear Bobby, Adrienne, Joe, and all of your extended family, 

I’m so deeply sorry for the loss of Maryann.  I know that you’re heartbroken with the loss of your devoted wife and mother.  A spouse and a parent are the most difficult loses that we have to endure.  I’m praying that the wonderful memories of Maryann will fill your hearts with the warm feeling that she provided.

One of my favourite memories is when I visited and Maryann and her mom taught me how to make biscottis.  My nonna always made them but I had no idea how.  Maryann had the difficult job of videotaping the biscotti making and interpreting her mom’s Italian for me.  It took us all day, with half of it ending up with Maryann and I laughing at my attempts to do what I was instructed to do and her mom slapping my arm whenever I didn’t do exactly what she “told” me to do.  It was an amazing day for me and one I have never forgotten.  I’m so grateful that I have it recorded.  I’ll never forget anytime that I was blessed to have spent with all of you ❤️❤️

Dear sweet Fairview neighbor/friend.   I remember the day you first moved in to the neighborhood.    I also remember my first Italian New Year and how you tricked me into eating eggplant parmigiana.
I still do love it immensely!   

May you Rest In Peace as one of God’s angels now and forever.    

I will never forget the first time I visited Florida.  All the cousins met up and what a time we had.  I wanted to do all the “touristy” things and Marianne and the rest obliged.  The airboat ride in the Everglades; Tin City; Busch Gardens.  As you can see from the pictures, (Marianne and Cousin Arthur), she was up for it all.  Well, maybe almost, but we had a good laugh!

OMG, and who can forget the great dinners and of course, Dominoes!  I remember Marianne trying to be so sly when playing dominoes that the fun was really in the interaction between us.

Probably the one thing that I will remember the most about Marianne was her old world Italian charm.  She loved “pizzicato” and just being “Everyone’s Mom”

Marianne gave us a great gift and one that we get to keep forever.

First, I would like to say my sincerest condolences to the DeLillo and Ziakas families and to all other relatives and friends of Marianne.  She was truly a gem.

So on the day that Marianne passed, I talked to my stepson, Martin about it.  I told him “Martin, you remember Florida and Bob and Marianne.  Marianne died today and she is with God”  He said “Noooo”.
As I am going through pictures, I found this one of Marianne and Martin and when he saw it, he said “Sad, Jean, God”  Martin has Down Syndrome and is non-verbal and Jean is my Mom; Marianne’s Aunt.



Aunt Marianne was such a beautiful soul. Aunt Marianne had dementia when I met her; all I remember was she thought she was friends with Trump. The way me and my sisters are with my cousins is just like how Aunt Maria and mommy were with your daughter Aunt Marianne. My mom and Aunt Maria ❤️ were Adrienne's first best friends also my grandma was so close so close to you. I loved Aunt Marianne like my own grandma so for me this is hard. Aunt  Marianne was the most precious little thing with such a huge heart, nobody could resist squeezing her. Aunt Marianne, I will think of you every day when speaking to my grandma.  

“Those memories of you will always bring a smile. If only I could have you back for just a little while. Then we could sit and talk again like we used to do. You always meant so very much and always will too. The fact that you’re no longer here will always cause me pain but you’re forever in my heart until we meet again”

So many wonderful memories....  growing up I always considered Aunt Marianne to be my American mom.  
I remember bike riding on her street in Islip Terrace and going for car rides in the station wagon to pick up Joe or Adrienne from soccer.  She always made it fun and had the most beautiful laugh and gave the best kisses and always squeezed my cheeks!  She did love to "pinch" everyone's cheeks!
Zia Marianna always made the holidays so special for everyone, everything from Easter Sunday to Christmas.  She had an amazing talent for decorating the home.  One of my favorite memories was spending Christmas in Naples.  Aunt Marianne always had two Christmas trees and they were beautiful. I always loved looking at all the ornaments. The dining room table was always set so beautifully with napkins and napkin rings from Jacobson's, the table was the center of the holiday, where we all came together to share amazing food and laughs. 
Aunt Marianne enjoyed entertaining and always opened her home to everyone. She loved with her whole heart and cared for so many.  
You will be greatly missed Aunt Marianne, the memories will live on.

MY MOM
We always didn't agree. We are the same. My mom never backed down or took any  crap. Like me. My mom always got the best deals at Jacobson's , her favorite place.  My mom always tried to give the best party's . The Jc Penny party, the animal party, and the Easter reunion party and birthday party's. 
Christmas there would be two trees full with different themes. My mom would decorate the whole house one way or another.  
My mom always made you feel at home and feed you. My mom let my sister and I drive in Victoria Park. My mom took my friends and I to my first concert.  RATT. 
My mom missed so much  of her grandkids lives. Their growing ,learning on how to be helpful, respectful, caring, great young  adults . I hope when she did see her grandkids, in her own way she knew who they were. Now she can watch them from a far. My mom always went out of her way to help her friends and family. My mom was a caregiver.
My mom took care of people who really need help. My mom is honest, caring,
loyal ,sincere, loving. Even with her Sicilian temper. My mom has rubbed off on everyone she touched.

My favorite memories of Marianne was when she helped  keep my 103 year old grandmother company and they would tell stories together, Marianne would paint her nails and cook things my grandma actually would eat and sing and just have fun.  I also loved how she would squeeze my son Matthew’s  cheeks and always tell him how tall he was!  She was just a happy fun person to be be around.  Loved seeing her walk in the neighborhood too!  Rest In Peace Marianne.  

Your mother was always so incredibly kind to us.  Especially Marshall and Arianne when the were little.  She has always had a place in my heart and will continue to.

 Although distance kept us apart you were my little sister that has a big place in my heart. From our childhood days in Italy to our adulthood in America; I love yesterday, today, and always.

From the days our families spent on Bay Parkway to West Islip, and gatherings at Grandma and Grandpa’s house on Lake Street we will never forget the laughter, memories, and the delicious foods we shared from our Italian Heritage. My favorite part about Nonna is every last time I came to visit she was always ready for my arrival with the biggest smile on her face and an incredible amount of love. No matter what time I arrived Nonna was waiting and ready to feed me! She taught me how to play domino's and I remember staying up to play with her and the family. Growing up my Zia Marrianna was like a second mom to me. I will forever cherish all the beautiful memories we made. Sunday Dinners at my Nonna Angela's and Nonno Gaspare's house was always so much fun. Holidays were so special and I will always remember the Easter bread with the eggs and the Italian fig cookies she made with my mom.  So many yummy treats. We would laugh, act silly and be annoying and Zia would say " your such a SCHOOCH!" When Zia  moved to Florida I was so sad. I missed Zia so much but we visited often and had so many fun vacations in Naples with her and the family. Every time we  visited Zia she made it so special for us. She set the dinning room table perfectly and beautifully with  her China and delicious treats  from Jacobson's.  She was the perfect host.
My fondest memory of my dear Zia is her kissing my cheeks and then pinch them so hard. Zia  was so affectionate, silly and sweet. 
Her infectious smile and laugh would always light up the room. We will miss you more than words can say but you are forever in our hearts. xoxo

There is not enough room to talk about all the wonderful qualities that made up the spirit of our sister in law. However the two memories we loved the most was her infectious laugh and her positivity. When Marianna laughed she made you join in on the joy and so very often we almost had bathroom accidents! When the family first moved to Florida she was telling me how much she missed everyone. I asked her if she was feeling depressed. She responded, " it's hard to feel depressed when the sun is always shining". This statement stayed with me all these many years. Her looking forward with a positive approach and not backward, is an example of her sharing happiness. Bob and Marianna, Art and I have shared our families, so much love and so many bottles of Champagne, so much laughing and joy that all of these memories will help to comfort us in our loss. When I was a child my favorite memory of my Great Aunt Maryanna was whenever we visited, she would pinch my cheeks, teach me Italian word's and cook whatever food was my favorite. She taught me the love and value of an extended family. Rest in peace, I love you always. Jacob Connelly.

Such a tremendous loss. 

I will always be eternally indebted to my Aunt. When I was a small child and first entered this family my Aunt Marianna and my Uncle Bob went so far out of their way to make me feel loved and accepted and that meant everything to me. I would always get such love and special treatment from her. I remember fondly every single time I saw her as a kid. How she would go out of her way to make me homemade Zeppoli and drawing the ire of everyone else for her gift to just me. I mean no matter what was going on EVERYONE knew she was going to carve out time to make them for me and I will never forget how special that made me feel.

It was an absolute honor for me as I got older to return that love and kindness. I really cherish the memory of them coming to visit New York for the first time in awhile and I got her a digital camera when they first came out. How genuinely touched she was. How happy we all were spending times together in Disney World. How hard she laughed all those years ago when I gave a video tour of her house in the style of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.

As we get older, and the demands of work and life make those trips harder to make I never stopped thinking about how much I missed and loved her. The last time I saw her is another special memory for me. Although she may have forgotten many things, I saw a a quick glimmer of recognition as my family and I came through the door after a few years. For a moment, however brief, she shared in the excitement and knew we had come all that way just to see her again. I hugged her tightly and she hugged back just as tight. A brief hug of familiarity but certainly a hug of the recognition of our love for one another.

A sweet lady has left my life…for a time, Marianne, 💕you were our wonderful neighbor and friend in Islip Terrace, NY, in the 1980s… Your daughter Adrienne and our daughter Eileen were best friends… And I will never forget you , You were one of those precious gems that comes into a life and changes a person forever. I have so many memories about my sweet cousin Marianne. I remember when I was younger and I went to visit her she would greet me with a kiss on my cheek and then pinch them. It hurt a bit but I know she like to do that. I’m going to miss her laughter and her smile she was such a generous and loving person she always made everyone feel welcome I’ll never forget my cousin Marianne may you rest in peace.

This is a sad moment that I lost my dear niece Marianne, she was a loving person we got really close she would tell me stories about Italy and about cousins and relatives and aunts and uncle‘s we would sit for hours and talk I’m going to miss her terribly . I love you Marianne .


Nonna was such an amazing woman. She was like my second grandma. She would always put a smile on my face as soon as I would walk in the door. I thank her so much for welcoming me with open arms when I was 11 years old into the family. I thank Marisa my best friend since elementary school for introducing me to her Nonna and Papa. I will always cherish the memories I have of her.

“Share your favorite memory” there’s too many favorite memories to share. Nonna was the most loving human I have ever met. I will forever cherish every moment with her.  Oh what I would do for one more bacco pitzo cotzo (pinch and a kiss), One more lo va vo. To be honest I would love just one more day with her remembering me. Nonna I hope you are enjoying heaven and looking down on us all remembering each and every one of us! I love you forever my sweet angel. Life will never be the same without you! Ti Amo Nonna Bella 💜

She would invite you into her home with hug and make you feel part of her family instantly. The DeLillo house was the gathering spot for many fun nights playing board games and of course dominos.
