

Mark Francis “Chub” Limont, 85, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Naples, FL. He was born on September 29, 1926 in St. Paul, MN and was the second of four children born to Frank and Frances “Fefe” Limont. His older brother Paul (Bud) is deceased; his younger sisters, Betty (Boop) Landers of Sandwich, MA and Barbara (Barbie) Posey of Albuquerque, NM survive him. When Chub was in the 6th grade the family moved to New Orleans, LA where he stayed until he was a senior in high school. He then moved to Cape Cod, MA to finish his senior year at Yarmouth High School. Chub played football for the University of Notre Dame. His college was interrupted by a two year stint in the Navy during World War II and a year in Mexico City as an exchange student before his graduation in 1948.
Chub and his first wife Dottie Vaughn settled in Scituate, MA in 1951 and had five children; Mark Francis (deceased) who lived with his partner, Marsha Saxton, in El Cerrito, CA; Lisa Joan who lives with her husband, Jack Golden in Leyden, MA; Eric Paul who lives with his wife, Karen and their two children, Erica and Kyle in Marshfield, MA; Kristine Vaughn who lives with her husband, Lou Frick, in La Mesa, CA; and Frances Anastasia (Stacy) (deceased) who lived with her husband,Yde Zwagers, in Oceanside, CA.
In 1984, Chub met Mary Dickson while playing tennis, and on August 15, 1987 under an archway of tennis rackets held by their friends at Scituate Harbor Yacht Club, Chub and Mary were married. They would celebrate thier 25th wedding anniversary in August. Mary has two children, Susan Millay of New Bedford, MA where she lives with her son, Justin, and Andrew Dickson of Martha’s Vineyard, MA. Chub and Mary lived in Scituate, MA until 2000 when they moved to Naples, FL where Mary still lives.
Chub had a long and distinguished career in sales and was for many years the Northeast Regional Sales Manager for Service America. He always enjoyed his work and this positive attitude led to many successful projects and a sense of satisfaction with his accomplishments.
Chub was an active member of the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club since 1958, serving as its Commodore in 1989. The Yacht Club was Chub’s home away from home and all of its members remain dear to him to this day. As an avid reader his entire life, Chub was a member of the Friends of the Library in both Scituate, MA and Naples, FL. In addition to tennis, he was a birder and a seasoned golfer. He taught English to many students in an English as a second language program at Naples Library. During the last few years of his life, Chub became an enthusiastic and prolific painter, delighting his family and friends with beach scenes and nautical landscapes galore.
Chub was youthful and unconventional until the day he died. His gregarious and big hearted ways will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Chub’s life, Saturday, June 23, at 1:00pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens.
