I believe Mrs. Ferguson-Yorde was my paternal grandfather's cousin.  Even though our families had never met (we reside in California), she would always send a birthday card and a check to my brother and me when we were kids.  Being such distant relatives, I was amazed at how thoughtful, kind, and generous she was to us over the years.  

I feel deep regret and sorrow that we eventually lost touch and didn't reestablish a relationship, especially in her later years.  I hope she surrounded herself with many loved ones and lived a happy life.  If there were more people like her in the world, there's no doubt it would be a better place.  My condolences to her family and friends.

Rest in peace, Mrs. Ferguson.
