Mary was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts on July 26, 1927 to Capt. Salvatore and Maria Favazza. She took great pride in caring for her home and family, dutifully raising six children while shouldering the often sometimes arduous demands that come with being the wife of a Gloucester fishing captain.
Known for her expertise in preparing Sicilian cuisine, Mary’s family gathered most every Sunday after church for delicious meals and lively conversations. Upon her husband’s retirement, they settled in Naples, Florida where they enjoyed a more relaxed lifestyle for many years.
Mary enjoyed baseball, movies, painting, and was an avid ballroom dancer. A lover of music, she played the organ and often entertained her neighbors at hers and others assisted living homes with old time favorites.
Mary is preceded in death by her dear husband of fifty years, Captain Dominic Novello, as well as eight of her siblings and her daughter in law, Paula Scola Novello.
Mary is survived by her six children, Vincie Boothe and her husband, Mark of Pensacola, FL, Dominic Novello Jr., and his wife Judy of Bonita Springs, FL, James Novello and his wife Jeanine of Bonita Springs, FL, Joseph Novello and his wife, Elizabeth of Gloucester, MA, Mary and her husband Ronald Frontiero of Vero Beach, FL and Sara Coment and her husband Wayne of Vero Beach, FL; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her sister, Sara Favazza.
Funeral services will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 12:00 PM with visitation starting at 11:30 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Naples Memorial Gardens immediately following the services.
