

Maureen was born August 6, 1944, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late John E. and Clara A. O’Brien.
Maureen was married to the late Anthony (Tony) Melfa in 1964, in Hialeah, Florida, and had two daughters, Cindy and Sandy. They moved to Marathon in the Florida Keys in 1972, where they opened an air conditioning company, Air Tite Air Conditioning. They were members of the Marathon Elks Lodge for many years, where they made many lifelong friendships, and she was so fondly known as Moe. They moved to Naples, Florida, in 2002 to be with their girls. Family meant everything to Maureen, and she cherished her time with her daughters, son-in-laws, and grandchildren. In Maureen’s earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and golf with Tony and her family. Maureen also enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino and listening to Elvis Presley music.
Survivors include: Daughter Cindy Melfa, and husband Rick Treder. Daughter Sandy and husband Skip Forsyth, grandchildren Ashlynn and Anthony. Sister-in-law, Shirley O’Brien. Aunt, Dru Cifaldi. Niece, Monica Wurtz (Matt) and Nephew, Michael Fernandez (Angela).
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Anthony (Tony) Melfa. Brothers, John E. O’Brien, III, and Thomas O’Brien. Parents, John E. and Clara O’Brien.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, with Graveside services at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Hodges Funeral Home in Naples, Florida.
