Norman was a health enthusiast who loved to bicycle. He exercised daily and was a firm believer in taking care of his body, mind and spirit. Norman had a passion for people and loved good conversation. He enjoyed music, woodworking, gardening and boating.
Col. Comly was proud to have served his country in the US Air Force. During his duty during WWII, he was on a B-24 as a bombardier that was shot down over Austria, taken to Wiemar Germany interrogation center before ending up at Stalag VII as a POW. He was liberated ten days short of a year later. After his tour of duty, Norman joined the reserves and continued to serve his country while practicing his profession as an accountant.
Norman will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a man of honor, integrity and loyalty. He was a complete gentleman.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Stefani (Joseph), John Comly (Leslie Ann), Carole Kernan, and Patricia Sullivan-Burke; his grandchildren, Thomas Kernan, Michael Burke and Janeen McGovern and his great grandson Ryan McGovern. Norman was preceded in death by his wife Mildred and his son Kenneth Comly.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 3 pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 2pm until service time after which he will join his beloved Mildred at Naples Memorial Gardens.
