Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Norman brought his young family to Naples in 1967. Norman was the son of a natural entrepreneur and his wife, Frank H. and Hazel Kutsky. He carried on that entrepreneurial tradition throughout his life, owning several businesses in Naples over the years. Besides being devoted to his family, Norman enjoyed volunteering for several organizations, including the Shriners, the Masonic Lodge, and the Moose Lodge. When Norman's children were young, he also volunteered for athletic organizations. He coached little league baseball and spent several years as President of the Naples Little League.
Norman was a veteran of the United States Army and he enjoyed talking about his years of service stationed in Germany with the 503rd Engineers Company. That might have been the beginning of his love for travel. In his retirement years he and Patricia took many trips together all over the world.
