Tonia, who was born in Maracaibo, Vzla, moved to Aruba with her late mother, Editha Villasmil and her 3 siblings when she was just a child. Tonia was raised, had her school education and her first marriage in Aruba. Tonia welcomed her three children from her first marriage in the 1960’s. Her late son, Roderick Arends and daughters Tita and Joális. After finishing her schooling, Tonia went to work at Commercial Bank. After a few years at the bank she was employed by the Divi Hotels as front desk manager where she was loved by all her colleagues. Tonia remained at the Divi Hotels until she traveled abroad in the mid 1970’s. Tonia settled down in Ithaca NY where she married her late second husband and love of her life, Mr. Stanley Borow. It was obvious when seeing Tonia and Stan together that they had a deep love for each other. Tonia and Stan dedicated their lives to their business, Northside Wine and Spirits and made it into an impressive and successful business but always had time for each other, family, and fun with friends. In the mid 90’s Mr & Mrs Borow decided to become snowbirds and discovered Naples, Fl and fell in love. After some years of enjoying the best of both worlds and Stan had passed away, Tonia made Naples her forever home to be near her daughters, grand and great grand children.
Tonia was a savvy business woman who had a zest for life. Tonia was a great artist, she bought art and made art. Great painter. Great conversationalist. Would stop anywhere to dance to a favorite song. She enjoyed the simple things in life as much as a grand gesture. She took the time to write comment letters to compliment a great experience with the same passion as some of us would write a complaint letter. Donated anonymously and with a smile.
Her biggest smiles, her warmest hugs and her biggest kisses were reserved for her children and her grand and great grandchildren and close friends.
Tonia love the life she lived and lived the life she loved.
Tonia was a very loving and classy lady and she will be dearly missed and remembered.
