Paul Luther Gordon

February 7, 1930 – July 26, 2021
Obituary of Paul Luther Gordon
IN THE CARE OF

Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens

Heaven has a new angel, Paul Luther Gordon, Naples, FL, passed away peacefully July 26, 2021 at the age of 91.

Paul was born to Marie and Samuel Gordon of Kenton, Ohio, where he grew up before moving to Forest Ohio. He graduated from Forest High School. Paul loved all sports but was most active in basketball and football, though also participating in drama and band.

He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in education. Combining his love of sports and teaching he taught English and coached high school football for several years.

Paul, however, was a natural born salesman so he left the educational field to pursue a sales career mainly in St. Louis and Kansas City, MO. He started in pharmaceutical sales and ultimately sold newspaper printing presses throughout the United States and Europe.

Paul retired in 1991 but still dabbled in Kansas City real estate sales until his devoted wife Martha Jean retired in 1994. The couple traveled to Europe, the Caribbean and to many St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games. Paul was a huge fan of the Cardinals through both good and bad seasons.

Paul and Jean moved to Naples in 2000 to enjoy the sunshine and be closer to their kids.

Paul is survived by his wife, Martha Jean Gordon; his two children Michelle Martin and Mike Gordon (Melinda Gordon); by his two grandchildren, Jennifer Martin and Kathryn Lambert (Kevin Lambert) and his great grandchildren, whom he adored, Justin Martin and Emma Lambert.

Paul will be greatly missed by all. He had an infectious sense of humor, a welcoming smile and was genuinely a kindhearted man. All of his family loved him.

Paul often said his life “was quite a journey”, yes indeed it was!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local Hospice or Habitat for Humanity.
