Peter Fitzsimons

Born in Dublin, Ireland, emigrated to Montreal, Canada at the age of 6 and, as a family man, planted himself happily in Bonita Springs, FL until he passed away. Survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth, his beloved daughter, Shawna, his precious son, Tyler, his treasured grandson, Michael, and his son-in-law, Robert.

Sole brother to 4 sisters, Veronica (deceased), Marie (Marty), Ann, and Deirdre. (Chris) who miss him dearly.

He was always an uncle who stayed up-to-date in the lives of his nieces and nephews: Stacy (Ryan), Bree, William, Patrick (Melanie), Neil (llana), Kelly (Jonathon). He was delighted to be Great Uncle to Charlie, Ari, Chloe, Millie, Goldie, Mason and Noah.

He always cherished the time he spent with the Ricken family, his cousin Phyllis (Nabih), and his many cousins in Ireland: The Ryan family, Eric (Agnes), Sylvia (John), Avril (Lee) and Lorna well as the Whelan family, Donald, Denise, etc. .. , and the Bowe family, Catherine (Michael.)

He is, amongst other things, fondly known for his huge kind heart. He had so much enthusiasm for learning and delved into everything from geology to astronomy. He was constantly teaching himself how to adapt to new technology and encouraged others to do same. He devoured history and enjoyed studying different languages. His favourite past-times were collecting ancient books and spending time on his boat. He was the BBQ king and everyone appreciated how he meticulously catered to their individual taste. He was forever grateful to his Aunt Marie and Uncle Pat (predeceased) for providing him, beginning at the age of 14, the opportunity to discover ranching, horseback riding, driving pick-up truck, tractors/bailers. He learned it all with their loving guidance under the Montana glorious sunrise and sunsets.

He wanted to live longer but that was not in the stars. RIP- Happy sailing o’er eternal galaxies, Peter. Thank-you for pushing all of us to further depths. We already miss you so!

The family has asked that you bring your favorite single flower to the service the flower to be placed in a common area before the service begins.

A gathering of family and friends for Peter will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, Florida 34108. A a memorial service will occur Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 3:00 PM. A reception to follow service will occur Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 3:30 PM.
