

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Aunt Phyllis Marie Biunno 99 of Naples, Florida formally of Scotch Plains, N. J. was welcomed by a host of heavenly angels on Friday, November 4, 2022.
She was born to Caterina and Felippo Schembra in Mahan, West Virginia. At four years old, Phyllis moved to Newark, New Jersey with her family.
Her educational accomplishments began as a graduate of Arts High School and Newark State Teacher’s College. She later earned her Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist.
Her career encompassed over thirty years as a classroom teacher and reading specialist for the city of Newark, N. J.
As an avid reader, she shared her vast knowledge with all those with whom she interacted. In addition to reading, her other passions included time with her family, cooking, baking, sewing, bridge, and a lifetime of continued church service, learning and teaching of her beloved Catholic faith.
She shared her artistic talents through written word and sketches as a devotion to The Blessed Mother.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Joseph as well as her siblings Rose, Catherine, Louise, Christopher, and Gaetano (Tommy).
Phyllis is survived by her son Lawrence Biunno and her daughter Patricia Marks. Her life was blessed with two grandchildren Kimberly Ann Blankenbush (Kenneth), Robert Patrick Marks
(Michelle) as well as five great grandchildren, Lauren, Marissa, and Peyton Watts; Jake and Cooper Marks.
Visitation for Phyllis will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens 525 111th Avenue North Naples, Florida 34108. Following visitation Funeral Mass will take place at 1:00 pm at St. Agnes Church 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Road Naples, Florida 34120. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Avow Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples Florida 34105 or Foundation @ avowcares.org.
