

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 9, 1934, to David and Pearl Dawid. Ray grew an athlete and sports fan in Brooklyn. After he graduated from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, he was married to his childhood sweetheart Rosaria “Roe” Baio on June 28th, 1958. He remained devoted to her for 63 years until the time of his passing. After their marriage they moved to Staten Island, New York. In 2002 they retired and relocated to Naples, Florida to be with family.
Ray honorably served his country for five years in the New York State Army National Guard. Ray commenced his working life as school teacher then moved on to the insurance industry where he finished his career with the Home Life Insurance as a re-insurance risk evaluator.
Although he had no children, Ray was deeply devoted family man. His family life centered around his nephews and niece and great nephews and nieces. He coached his nephews little league teams and mentored them throughout their lives. Ray and Roe attended all of their nephew and nieces and latter on great nephews and nieces athletic events, dance recitals and milestones in their lives.
He is survived by his wife Rosaria, his sister Sr. Doloretta Dawid, five nephews and nieces, Marco (Jennifer) Marsala, Charles (Karen) Marsala, Christopher (Deborah)Marsala, Nancy Gagliardo (Gary), Louis (Natalie) Marsala and Stephen Marsala, seventeen great nieces and nephews , two great, great nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 1-4pm Monday February 28, 2022, at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave North, Naples, Florida 34108. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 am Tuesday March 1, 2022, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, Florida 34120 and a Committal to follow at Naples Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Agnes Church.
