Robert Oliver Bent II (Bob) of Naples Florida was found dead in his home March 18 due to a massive stroke. Bob passed away within 3 weeks his beloved wife of 46 years Karen S. Bent and is survived by their son Robert Oliver Bent III of Plano IL and his sister Barbara Bent of New York. He was born May 17, 1941 on Long Island, the son of Robert McKinley Bent and Edith (Tastrom) Bent. He Graduated from Jackson High School in Ohio and then went on to get his B.A. and B.S. from Brown University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. Most of his working career was spent with Standard Oil as an executive. During this time he married Karen and had their son Robert Oliver Bent III and moved to Naperville IL where they lived for a total of 27 years. While in Naperville he was an active member of Naperville Country Club and did lots of charity work for places like Marianjoy Rehabilitation Center where he served on the board of directors from 1976 to 1997 and was Chairman of the Board 1988 – 1990. After leaving Standard oil in 1992 He worked with and invested in Synergy Corp before retiring to Bears Paw Country Club in Naples FL. Bob and his wife were both a vibrant part of the community at Bears Paw, enjoying it year round except when they were off on one of their many cruises. Bob served as president of Bears Paw Country Club in 2007 and 2008. An avid golfer and great chef, he loved anything to do with golf or fine dining. Bob was known for his quick wit and ever present sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
