Bob grew up in Roanoke, Illinois and was a graduate of Roanoke-Benson High School class of 1970. He married the love of his life, Lynnette Guy in 1973 and they remained together for 43 years until her passing in 2017. He was an employee of Illinois Blueprint while residing in Metamora, Illinois. After accepting a sales position with Xerox Corporation, he moved his family to Darien, Illinois. He worked for Xerox for 32 years and then Master Graphics for four years until his retirement and eventual settlement in Naples, Florida.
Bob was an avid golfer and always looked forward to golfing in the Hinsbrook Open with his Darien friends and the Roanoke Open with his brothers and friends from Texas. Bob also enjoyed fishing, camping with family, and especially travelling with his wife Lynnette, her sister Karen, and his brother-in-law Daniel Buhs on their trips abroad. Bob was a passionate Chicago sports fan, specifically the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks.
By far his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren Jarrett and Cole Goodwin (Bret and Tricia) and Benjamin and Charles Goodwin (Matthew and Melissa).
He is proceeded in death by his Father Joseph Goodwin, his Mother Mildred Moritz, two brothers Dick and Paul Goodwin, two sisters Carol Hamilton and Judy McCaskey, his wife Lynnette Goodwin, and his granddaughter Rachel Goodwin.
Bob leaves behind his sons, Bret (Tricia) Goodwin of Custer Park, Illinois, Matthew (Melissa) Goodwin of Fairfax, Virginia, his sister Diane Orr of Oswego, Illinois, his brother Donald (Nancy) Rarick of Peoria, Illinois, and his friend Denise Griner of Naples, Florida. Bob will be fondly remembered for his caring and warmth, his infectious smile, and his extraordinary sense of humor.
Arrangements are being managed by Hodges Funeral Home of Naples, Florida and cremation rights have been accorded. Celebration of life services will be held in Illinois and in Naples, Florida with specific dates pending. Interment will be in Naples Memorial Gardens.
