Robert L. Hatch, 93, of 130 Moorings Park Drive, Naples died August 6, 2018 at Naples Community Hospital after short illness.
He was born in Old Town, Maine, on November 23, 1924, the son of Lynwood and Lucile Hatch. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He received degrees in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and MIT.
After four years with Standard Oil (Indiana) in the Research Department, for the next 36 years he held technical and management positions of increasing responsibility with General Electric Company in Pittsfield, MA, Mt. Vernon, IN and Schenectady, NY. Much of his career was with the GE Plastics and GE Silicones businesses. He retired as general manager of Corporate Real Estate and Construction. He was active in each location in numerous church, community and industry affairs. He and his wife retired to Naples from Schenectady, NY in 1988 and became residents of Moorings Park in 1999.
He was predeceased in 2014 by his wife, the former Thais Grant, a classmate at Old Town High School with whom he had celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. He is survived by their daughter Deborah Smith and her husband Wayne Smith of Garrett; Indiana; a grandson Brian Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a brother, Walter Hatch, of Bethel, Maine; and five nieces and their families.
Service on August 9, 2018 at Bower Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Moorings Park Foundation, 120 Moorings Park Drive, Naples, FL 34105
