Robert Everett Noorigian

Robert Everett Noorigian, 74, beloved husband of Shirley (Forgiel) Noorigian, passed away on September 1st, after a ten year battle with PLS/ALS. He never complained and always enjoyed his life, family and friends to the best of his ability.

Bob was born in Providence, R.I. to the late Everett and Florence (Fleming) Noorigian both of R.I. He was raised in Warwick, R.I., attended Pilgrim H.S. and worked at a dry cleaner/delivery service. Bob put every penny earned towards his future education.

Bob received both his BA in Economics/Business Administration and his MS in Economics at URI. It was during this time that he met his soulmate and future wife of 54 years.

His professional journey began at TRW in McLean, VA., and then went on to the oil and gas industry with Union Pacific RR in Fort Worth, Texas. He later built a lifetime career in Investor Relations with various railroads which took him and Shirley to CO twice, PA, NY, CA and eventually to Montreal, Canada. He was a highly valued executive who won numerous awards and accolades and was written about in several IR magazine articles.

During this busy time of his life, he still found time to do many of the things he loved with his family and friends. Bob enjoyed high country fly fishing, along with backpacking, hiking and camping with his wife and dogs. He also enjoyed fly fishing for salmon in Canada and Alaska and in the many beautiful 5 star rivers and streams throughout Canada. He loved dancing and traveling the world with his wife, playing chess, skiing, was a passionate runner and enjoyed his buddies, golf and loved to laugh.

As many of you know, he was well read and there wasn’t a topic that he didn’t embrace and wasn’t knowledgeable about. He also enjoyed a good political debate about any country in the world.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his only sibling, Gary Noorigian of Seal Beach, CA; his sister-in-law, Darlene Verrier and husband Anthony Pertraca; brother-in-law, Robert Forgiel; niece, Marlene Verrier and her husband Robert Rotondo; and his great nephew, Brady Verrier. Bob was preceded in death by his great nephew, Evan Joseph MacDonald.

He will be missed by all and there will always be a warm glow burning in our hearts in his memory and for all that he has done.
