Our mother Victoria “Sandy” Fitapelli, entered eternal life on Thursday, August 6, 2020. Her beautiful spirit is carried on by her two children, Antoinette and Daniel, and her loving husband, Daniel Sr., and her grandchild Zachary. She is survived by her brother Charles Minervo, and an extended family of relations and friends; including her beloved nieces and nephews.
Victoria was predeceased by her sister Grace Fitapelli, her sister Theresa Bongini, her brother Joseph Minervo, and her loving and dedicated mother Grace Pacione Minervo and her father Dominic MInervo.
Victoria was born on November 5, 1932 in New York City. A native New Yorker, she attended Washington Irving High school in Manhattan. A bright and energetic personality, she worked in sales for many years at Sansui Electronics and then at State Farm Insurance. She was happily married to her husband of 65 years Daniel Fitapelli, who was her partner in life and her true soulmate – most have looked up to them for their devotion to each other through the years. Even through their recent illnesses, they have kept their love and laughter alive by spending time with each other and their family, and you could find them holding hands or exchanging loving gestures. It truly was a love story for the books, and they raised two children in New York city.
Victoria loved her family and was a dedicated mother, aunt, wife, and friend. She was passionate about living life to the fullest and loved to impart important life lessons and we learned many valuable lessons from Aunt Sandy in her 87 years, among them: “Live life to the fullest, and life always goes on”. “Among the tears there should always be some laughter”. “Always be a good listener, as people are really interesting and you can learn from everyone”. “Help those that are struggling, you may need that help one day”. “A good bowl of pasta and a glass of wine could cure everything”. “Give it all you have, and never give up on your dreams”. You may recall these lessons that have touched your heart, or tickled you with laughter – she was kind and caring, and beautiful on the inside and out.
Our mom’s charm was her trademark – she always made people feel happy with her engaging personality and welcoming way. She was an amazing cook and loved to entertain: and she was a great friend who maintained lifelong friendships from her childhood. When you met our mom, you never forgot her. We will miss her more than words can ever say. And Victoria taught us the art of style and grace, and she would carry that fashionista spirit throughout her life.
