William J Riordan

April 23, 1952March 23, 2013

William J. Riordan, 60, of Naples, FL formerly of Marco Island, FL and Derby, CT. God took his weary hand and called him home on March 23, 2013 after a full and happy life.

Bill was born in Derby, CT to Joseph and Mildred Riordan. He graduated from Derby High School and attended Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, CT where he met and married his best friend Marianne Barbara Saleski. Bill was active in STORM Engine Company of Derby and developed a great love for being a volunteer fire fighter. In 1973 Bill joined the Trumbull Police Department where he made his career as a police officer. Upon retiring in 1999, Bill and Marianne moved to Marco Island, FL where he enjoyed the warm gulf breeze. Bill was a kind and loving man who would do anything for anyone, the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. He touched so many lives in so many ways and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of almost 39 years, Marianne; his sister Pat Reineck of Oxford, CT; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Teri Saleski of Newtown, CT; Nephew, Dave Oates of Peru, MA; nieces Eileen Hine of Oxford, CT and Starr Katz of South Salem, NY as well as several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 11am at San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Rd, Marco Island, FL 34145.

Dear Marianne and Lily,
It saddens us all to think of the world without Bill. He was a kind, fun and happy man; and someone I enjoyed talking with whenever possible. His devotion to his family was obvious to everyone. The love of his life was you, Marianne, and his little girl, Lily. Our prayers are with you in the hope that the memories of a lifetime of happiness with Bill will help you get through this difficult time. Those of us who knew Bill will always have a warm spot in our hearts for this wonderful man. God Bless you and your family, Marianne and Lily.

To the Riordan family, we were very saddened to hear of Billy's passing, he was a good friend, great person and most of all always a friendly smiling face to see. Billy was always a gentleman and passed on way too soon. We are there for you if anything is needed. Our sincere condolences

On behalf of the Officers and Members of the Storm Engine Company & The Storm Ambulance Corps we are truly saddened by the loss of Bill. The Riordan Family is one of the cornerstones of both organizations over the past 70 years. It is because of the dedication of men like Bill that the “Storm's” will always be at the forefront of Emergency Services.

Respectfully Yours,

Captain Richard Valenti, Storm Engine Company
Chief David Lenart, Storm Ambulance Corps
