His beloved wife, Rita Coyne Filgate, predeceased him in 2012. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Dawn Filgate and her husband, Pete Creegan, and Alison Case and her husband, Chad. He will be forever held in the hearts of his treasured “Gram”children, Ceara and Dylan Creegan, and James, Shane, and Harper Case.
He is also survived by his sister, Maureen Mohammed; sister‑in‑law, Rosemary Laffey; brother‑in‑law, John Coyne; sister‑in‑law, Phyllis Filgate; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim had enough friends to fill 18 holes—with a waiting list for the 19th.
A visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 331 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM.
