John Krison of Bardonia, New York, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, following a short illness. He was 82 years old.
Above all else, John was a devoted family man. Nothing brought him greater happiness or meant more to him than the family he loved so deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Carol, his children Barbara (Krison) Schmidt and husband Michael Schmidt; Debra Krison and her partner Edward Nasser; and his five cherished adult grandchildren, Kyra (27), Ryan (26), Jack (24), Erin (23) and Miranda (21). His family was the center of his life, and he was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. John was a husband, father, and grandfather who would happily do anything and everything for his family.
John was born in Astoria, Queens, on March 17, 1944, to Peter and Elena Krison. Although he was an only child, his childhood was filled with the love and companionship of many beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles, giving him the experience of growing up surrounded by a large and close family. He enjoyed talking to his family about the elaborate Italian holiday dinners of his childhood.
In 1965, John married his high school sweetheart, Carol. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and the many moments and memories they shared over more than six decades of marriage. He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren and attended all of their special events. He always expressed how fortunate he was to have lived to see his grandchildren become the amazing adults they are today.
John was a proud Local 3 electrician for 44 years, a career that reflected the dedication and commitment he brought to his life. Away from work, he was a lifelong and loyal New York sports fan, faithfully cheering for the New York Jets and New York Yankees through the good seasons and the not-so-good ones. He also loved to be a part of his bowling league with his friends in his younger years and umpiring Little League games after his retirement. John made friends wherever he went…tailgating, on vacation, at church, and in line at the bakery.
John will be remembered most for his devotion to his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy that lives on through Carol, his daughters and son-in-law and partner, and the five grandchildren who brought him so much joy. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. His family will always remember the laughter and joy, often about the silliest family jokes.
