Ken’s journey from Brooklyn to Bellrose to Congers NY and his transformation from a Texaco employee to a dedicated Piermont Police officer and then onto Highland Falls Police Department where he retired after 25 years of service. His compassion extended to rescuing dogs, a constant in his life that reflected his caring nature.
After retiring in 2001, Ken volunteered for Meals on Wheels, a service he later received himself as his health declined. He reconnected with his childhood friend Edie in their later years, bringing back many wonderful childhood memories and supporting one another in a special way. When his nephew and his family moved from Long Island to New Jersey, just 30 miles away, it brought them close to one another. Throughout the children's childhoods, Uncle Kenny was always there to celebrate milestones and to support and cheer them on in sports and dance and was even able to laugh about the incident when the boys' basketball hoop crashed through his car windshield. Uncle Kenny has left them with special memories from childhood and into adulthood. Ken’s life closed peacefully at home with his dog Henry the VIII by his side.
Predeceased by his loving parents, Mildred and Charles; his brother, Donald; Lucille DelPrior and Margaret O'Connor; and other loved ones who have gone before. He is survived by his childhood friend and life partner, Edie Prikryl; his sister, Joni; his brothers-in-law, Joe and Tom; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of St. Paul, 82 Lake Road West, Congers, NY 10920 on October 10, 2026 at 11:45AM.
Ken will be laid to rest on Long Island at Holy Rood Cemetery with his parents and brother at a later date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - MSK. In honor of every person living with breast cancer, every survivor, and all those we have lost to this disease, all gifts will be triple matched for a limited time. Your support helps power the work that turns discoveries into new cures and treatments. Kenneth was a strong advocate for male breast cancer awareness, research, and treatments. He was deeply grateful for the treatments and compassionate care he received over the past five years at MSK Montvale.
