

Margaret M. Hayes, a resident of St. Ann’s Care Center, Webster New York, passed away on February 1, 2018 surrounded by family and prayers. Margaret was born in Brooklyn on December 24, 1928 a daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret (Hinnigan) McDade, she lived in New City for 45 years, moving to Florida and summering in Snug Harbor, RI for several years. She resided at Greenwich Farms RI before moving to Webster in 2016.
Margaret is predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, John A. Hayes, dear brothers and sisters, James McDade and Cornelius McDade, Elsie White, Frances Jacobs, and Carol Horan and son-in law Gerard J. Cote. She is survived by her devoted children, Margaret Hayes-Cote of Wakefield, RI, John Hayes (Dorothy) of Rochester, NY, Lance Hayes (Kerry) of Rochester, MA, Kathleen Laux(Paul) of Mt. Laurel, NJ, and Eileen Hayes of North Fork, CA; loving 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Margaret was a role model for her family, going to college (RCC) later in life to achieve a nursing degree. She will be remembered for her dignity and grace and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City on Tuesday February 6, 2018 from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following day at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Church, New City. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Nanuet.
