She was preceded in death by her brothers, William A. Short, Jr., John F. Short, Arthur C. Short, Joseph T. Short, and Roy E. Short and her sisters, Miriam Short Horn and Irene A. Short. Adelaide is survived by her sister, Alice Short Boudreaux and over 60 nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Redemptorist Girls High School and earned her bachelor’s from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Adelaide worked for the United State Department of Agriculture until her retirement. She was responsible in ensuring food imported into the United States was safe and up to the standards for consumption.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10 am with a visitation beginning at 9 am. Interment will follow the Mass and take place in Metairie Cemetery.
