Albert Robert (Bob) Boelte, Jr. died on January 2, 2015. A native of New Orleans, he was the son of Albert R. Boelte, Sr. and Antonia Marie (Sonia) Boelte. He died on his birthday at 78 years of age. Bob was educated at Jesuit High School in New Orleans (an Honors Classical curriculum), Tulane University (BA History & BS Chemistry), and the University of Memphis (Master in Education Administration). After initially working in the packaging industry, Bob began in 1969 the most memorable part of his career, 34 years at Memphis University School (MUS) as a teacher of English and history, administrator, Admission Director, chapel advisor and ultimately director of college counseling until his retirement in 2003. After retiring Bob had the pleasure and privilege to work for several years establishing a successful and respected college guidance program at the new St. George's Independent School in Collierville TN. Although his life was mainly dedicated to educating our youth at independent schools, Bob had many interests, including fond memories as a member and president of the Egyptians (a scholarly dinner club), various college and counselor organizations, the New Orleans Athletic Club and memberships in a number of environmental, wildlife, and art groups. Bob leaves his sister, Sharon Joyce Butler of Palos Verdes, CA, two nieces: Deanne Elizabeth Johnson of The Woodlands, TX (Kent) and Erin Marie Larkin of Temecula, CA; two nephews: Scott Shepard Butler and Eric Albert Butler, both of New York, NY; four grandnieces and one grandnephew. Bob also regretfully leaves behind his beloved Italian greyhound "Dancer", who was his devoted companion during his long illness. Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm followed by interment at Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum. Any memorial gifts in honor of Bob Boelte should be made directly with Jesuit High School (New Orleans, LA), Memphis University School, or St. George's Independent School in (Collierville, TN).To view and sign the Family Guest Book, go to www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
