

Alfred "AL" Spindel, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023 at the age of 93 years. He was born in New Orleans December 6, 1929 to Earl M. Spindel and Enola Frilot Spindel and lived there for 78 years until he moved to Mckinney, TX. Al is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years Sylvia Jeansonne Spindel; children, Susan "Sue" Calvert (Butch) and Gary Spindel (Sandy); grandchildren, Kimberly Puckett (Mike), Kelly Hollingsworth (Ryan), Brittany Turpin (Mark), Matthew Spindel, Christopher Spindel; great-grandchildren, Taylor Culberson (Michael), Cooper Puckett, Triston Hollingsworth, Dylan Hollingsworth, Rylee Turpin, Kara Turpin, Kimber Turpin; great-great-grandchild, Ella Jane Culberson; and many nieces and nephews.
Al graduated salutatorian class of 1949 from S.J. Peters HS in New Orleans. He was an accomplished amateur boxer, winning a Golden Glove Championship, and an Army Veteran, serving as Military Police Officer to the 4th Army General and was a corporal when leaving the Army in 1953. Al worked for Flintkote as a sales manager for 35 years and went on to being Founder and CEO of Paragon Printing, where he retired at the age 80. Al was an official for high school basketball and football, a member of Chateau Golf and Country Club and the past president of the men 's golf club, member of the Knights of Columbus, WeDK Fraternity, past President of the Carrollton Rotary Club, and past President of Chateau Country Club Civic HOA. Al was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Earl "E.J." Spindel, Richard "Red" Spindel, and Enola "Dookie" Naquin. He will be remembered for his excellent golf skills, hitting 4 hole in one shots, being a sharp dresser and always being the life of the party with his witty jokes. He will be missed dearly. The visitation and funeral mass will be on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. until the mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
