He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 28, 1962, at Charity Hospital to his parents, Chiu King Fong Yee and Yook Sim Yee.
Alfred married the love of his life, Christine, on April 12, 2025. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother, Alan Yee (Diana); his sister, Faye “Susie” Yuan (Donald); his nephews, Spencer Yee (Danielle), Jason Yee, and Drs. Ryan (Vione)Yuan; his niece, Michelle (James) Lee; his great-nephew, Calvin Yee; his great-niece, Nora Yuan; as well as many loving cousins and their families and many dear friends.
Alfred grew up in and was a valued member of the Chinese Presbyterian Church. He was a dedicated member having served as a Deacon and Officer for the church. He could always be counted on when volunteers were needed or to help when the need arose. Alfred worked for Jefferson Parish in the office of Cynthia Lee Sheng for the past 18 years. He was a dedicated employee and served Jefferson Parish well.
Alfred jokingly described himself as an “old cheap Chinaman who still played with his cars” as part of “Team Whale and Parts Panda.” But to those who knew him, Alfred had a heart of gold and was always willing to help when he could. He had a wide range of knowledge about many subjects, though he would say it was the kind of knowledge that would not make you rich.
He enjoyed being a member of the Gulf South Firebird and Camaro Club and the Delta Region SCCA, where he made many lasting friendships. Alfred loved comic books, dinosaurs—especially the Triceratops—cars, Pandas, and collectibles. When he was financially able, he collected many things that brought him joy. He had five cars for one person, and later five cars for two people, although Christine was only allowed to drive Miss Mary. Alfred loved the jobs he held, and he formed many fond memories and close friendships through his work and throughout his life.
Alfred and Christine would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospice staff who cared for and supported Alfred throughout his journey. They would also like to thank his best friend, Henry Hom, his sistahs-Susan Hom, Rose Lee, Wanda Lee, Mary Ann Seymour, Irene Toy, and all his countless friends for their love and support through this journey. Alfred placed his faith in the Lord and trusted that his care was guided by God’s will.
Alfred also wished to personally thank everyone who prayed for him, guided him, and supported him along the way. This journey was a blessing for both him and Christine, and his faith carried him home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Alfred to the Chinese Presbyterian Church, 2901 West Esplanade Avenue, Kenner, Louisiana 70065.
