Alice Marie Pechon Liuzza

The Matriarch of our family, Alice Marie Pechon Liuzza, affectionately know as “Gramm” passed away on 29-July-2025 at the age of 101 years young. She was born on October 20th, 1923, to the late Robert and Grace Pechon. After marrying the love of her life, the late Nicholas J. Liuzza, they resided in New Orleans and then Metairie for the past 45 years. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Metairie. She loved her 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great - great grandchildren with all her heart. She is survived by her two daughters, Dulcy Liuzza Reed (late Roy Reed Jr.) and Susan Liuzza Kaplan. Her five grandchildren, Roy A. Reed III (Marcie), Kristin R. Cripple (Robert, Sr.), Stefanie N. Reed (Melissa Kelly), Nicholas M. Reed, and Adam N. Liuzza (Amanda). Great grandmother to Roy Reed IV, Julia Reed, Robert Cripple Jr., Hunter Cripple, Cayden Cripple, Peyton Reed, Madison Marquez, Zachary Carter, Grace Reed, Abigal Reed, Olivia Liuzza, and Anthony Liuzza. Great-great grandmother to Braelynn, Marlie, Grey, Pax and Reed. She is preceded in death by her sister, Diane Kennedy Clarke.

She enjoyed her time cooking in the family restaurant “Liuzza’s” back in the 40’s and 50’s and spending time sharing her love for cooking with her grandchildren. Also, she enjoyed her 25 years of volunteering at East Jefferson Hospital serving in many positions.

She and the family would like to express their gratitude for everything Mr. Dane, Mrs. Jackie and Mr. Gary Kaplan have done for her through the years. We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Isabel, Ms. Donna, Ms. Pat along with all employees at Compassus Hospice for the exceptional care and support they have provided.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Burial will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local SPCA, Alzheimer’s unit or another charity of your choice.
