Althea Dolores Reuther Pippin

Althea Dolores Pippin passed away on November 22, 2023 at the age 96. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Hazel Waltzer Reuther and Clarence George Reuther, Sr. on August 10, 1927. Althea graduated from the Academy of the Holy Angels High School, class of 1944. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and gardening. Althea was co-owner of Reuther’s Seafood Company.

She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 55 years, Claude Allison Pippin; both her parents and her brother, Clarence George Reuther Jr. (Beverly).

Althea was the cherished mother of David Allen Pippin (Sheila). She is survived by her three grandchildren, Kristin Ann Pippin- Reasor (Jason), Kimberly Michelle Pippin Vance (Michael) and Matthew David Pippin (Katie). She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, Logan William Pippin, Brenden David Pippin, William James Vance, Charles David Vance, Jude Michael Vance, Lucy Grace Pippin and Olivia Louise Pippin and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to her devoted care takers, especially Tannisha Mitchell and Leona Gordon.

Family, friends and staff of Passages Hospice are invited to attend the funeral service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Monday, December 4, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10am with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00pm. Interment will take place in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum immediately following.
