Andy Quang Luu

Andy Quang Luu passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on April 11, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on July 27, 1949 in Hanoi, Vietnam to Quynh Duc Luu and Nga Thi Nguyen. He grew up in Saigon and was the eldest of seven siblings.

A veteran of the South Vietnamese Navy, Andy bravely fought to protect his homeland during the Vietnam War. He endured unimaginable hardship, including surviving a “re-education” prison camp, an attack at sea by pirates while courageously fleeing his country by boat, and harsh conditions at Pulau Bidong Refugee Camp. Despite these adversities, Andy approached life with resilience and positivity.

By 1979, he started a new life in the United States. While working and supporting his family, Andy proudly earned engineering degrees from Louisiana State University and the University of Central Florida, and became a licensed Professional Engineer. As a civil PE, Andy helped design public works infrastructure, making daily life better for others.

Andy’s most important role was as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. To know Andy was to love him. Loved ones remember Andy as a warm, kindhearted, fun-loving, and gentle soul, who would go out of his way to help anyone who needed it. He loved life and enjoyed hosting crawfish and crab boils, being by the water, playing with his grandchildren, making others laugh, and taking care of everyone around him. He was a ray of light to all who met him and his infectious smile, joyful laugh, generous heart, and unconditional love will be deeply missed.

Andy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nhung; his son Kevin and his wife Heather; his son Jaymes; his daughter Belinda and her husband Bharat; and his five grandchildren, Spencer, Caitlyn, Isabel, Andrew, and Kiran.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Visitation will be held from 1 PM - 4 PM. Andy will be laid to rest privately.
