Angelo Vincent Ruggiero passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the V.A. Retirement Center in Reserve, LA. He was 93 years old. Beloved husband of the late Bettty Sue Porretto Ruggiero. Angelo is survived by his brothers, Rocco Ruggiero (the late Henrietta) and Mario Ruggiero (Frances). Son of the late Gregorio Ruggiero and Rosaria Ruggiero. Survived by nieces Roxanne Miller, Janine Neilson and nephews Albert Porretto, John Porretto, and the late Gregory Ruggiero; and four great nieces and nephews. Angelo was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the 413th Infantry Regiment, 104 Timberwolf Division. Angelo was awarded the Bronze Star for services in Belgium, Holland, and Germany. After the war, Angelo worked for the railroad and retired after 38 years of employment. He was a past member of the Krewe of Caesar Carnival Organization. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans.
