Anita Marie Sclafani, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Lindale, Texas, at the age of 64. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 15, 1954 to the late Salvador Sclafani and Anita Powell Sclafani. Her brother, Vincent Paul Sclafani, also predeceased her.
Anita loved reading, playing piano, singing, drawing, and especially spending time with her dog, Sugar. Anita graduated from Carleton College in Philosophy and obtained her law degree from Loyola University (New Orleans). She retired after a career with AT&T, and moved from New Orleans to Tyler, Texas in 2005. Anita was active in her church, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where she also sang in the choir. Anita enjoyed working for the Tyler Public Library after her retirement and shared her love of reading with her nieces and nephews—always sending wonderful books to them for their birthdays. She was quick-witted, kind, thoughtful, and caring, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Anita is survived by her brother, Kyle Salvador Sclafani, step-sister Pamela Smith Croll, Uncle Gordon Newell, and Aunt Zana Newell.
A graveside memorial will be held for Anita on September 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Mausoleum at Lake Lawn Metairie, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the local S.P.C.A. or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
