Ann Wood Barnes died peacefully on January 28, 2016. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Lakeview Presbyterian Church, Friends of the Cabildo, NOMA, Friends of City Park, The Historic New Orleans Collection, and Lake Vista Property Owners Association. She was a docent, den mother, elder, committee chairman and association president. A graduate of McMain High School and Tulane University’s School of Business, she worked at Bell South before marrying Walter (Tweet) Barnes (deceased), with whom she had 3 children, Walter Jr, Steve and Jean (Jana). She is further survived by her sister Emily Yawn, grandson Jeremy Henson, and great-granddaughter Debra.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A reception at Lakeview Presbyterian Church, 5914 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 will follow at 12:00 Noon.
