

Anthony H. Fortier, Jr., Veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, passed away on October 31, 2021 at the age of 98. He was born on September 1, 1923 in New Orleans to the late Cecilia Richards-Fortier and Anthony Hilton Fortier, Sr. He was an Allstate Insurance Agent after having his own insurance claims business for years. He was additionally a member of the Knights of Columbus, TOGAMS Dance Club, Chateau Estates Golf Club, Diamondhead Golf Club, and VFW Post No. 6740. He graduated from USL (Southwestern) in 1948 and earned both BA and Economics degrees. He enjoyed golf, baseball, dancing, restaurants, and Stage Door Canteen shows at the World War 2 Museum. He was married for 61 years to Virginia Melito and then remarried to Marie Bertucci for 8 years until their deaths. He served in the USMC WW2 from 1942-1946. Semper Fi !!!
He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Melito. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia and son, Glenn; Son, Mark and his wife, Pamela and grandsons Timothy and wife, Kim and great-grandsons Collin, Christopher and great-granddaughter, Colette Marie; Grandson, Sean and wife, Teresa and great-grandsons Logan and Greyson; Son, Anthony and wife, Karyn, granddaughter, Lyndsie Fortier-Daniels and Husband, William Daniels and daughter, Ellinor Daniels.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, 70124. A 12:00 noon Mass will immediately follow visitation with Father Andrew Redmann officiating.
