Anthony was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on October 18, 1964. He passed away at the age of 60 on September 18, 2025, in New Orleans. After graduating from Saint Paul’s High School in 1983, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. This degree enabled him to serve the City of New Orleans until his retirement from the New Orleans Police Department, where he held the rank of Lieutenant. He was a proud member of the Police Association of New Orleans and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Anthony’s greatest joy and proudest role was being the loving father of his son, Paul A. Monaco, who was the light of his life and Paul's mother, Michelle Power Monaco. He was the cherished son of Anthony Paul Monaco (Paul) and Ilse T. Manale, and the beloved grandson of Hedi Kramert. For eight years, he shared his heart and life with his devoted partner, Sheri Daigle, who loved him deeply.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Paul Monaco; stepfather, Victor Joseph Manale, III; grandparents, Anthony Mario and Isabell Drago Monaco, and well as many other family members and loved ones who were dear to his heart.
Survivors include his cherished son, Paul A. Monaco; mother, Ilse T. Manale; grandmother, Hedi Kramert; siblings, whom he was a protective and caring brother to, Scott A. Monaco, Matthew P. Monaco (wife, Kimberly), and Michelle M. Moura (husband, John). As an uncle, Anthony adored his nephews—Mason and Grayson Monaco and Carson and Carter Moura—never missing a milestone, celebration, or special moment in their lives. He was also a beloved godson and nephew to Carolyn and Joe Drago and Joanne and Peter Debell, who cherished the special bond they shared with him. Anthony also held a deep love for the Daigle family, who embraced him as one of their own and will feel his absence profoundly.
Anthony will forever be remembered for his generous spirit, gentle strength, and the unwavering love he showed to those around him. His laughter brought joy, his presence brought comfort, and his kindness left a mark on every life he touched.
Though his time here was far too short, Anthony’s memory and legacy will live on—in his son, his family, and in the countless hearts that were blessed by his love.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to The Honorable LaToya Cantrell, Mayor of New Orleans; to Superintendent Anne E. Kirkpatrick, of the New Orleans Police Department; and her entire command staff. They also extend their gratitude to the dedicated men and women of the New Orleans Police Department who put their lives on the line every day. And the outpouring of love and support from the family's friends and neighbors during this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. The family would like to invite those attending the service to a reception at the Lake Lawn Event Center following the service.
