Anthony “Tony” Jerome Montalbano passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born in New Orleans on January 24, 1934. After attending high school, he left to join the workforce. Anthony eventually retired as a bellman for the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans. In his free time, he was interested in sports and travel.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Yolande “Boo” Montalbano; parents, Joseph and Louella Montalbano; sisters Yvonne Rothell and Dorothy Bongard; brothers John Bongard and Joseph Bongard.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 40 years, Katherine Carnesi Montalbano; sons, Anthony “Tony” J. Montalbano, Jr. (Janice) and James “Jimmy” Montalbano (Deanna Uli); stepsons, William Carnesi and Ronald Carnesi; grandchildren Anthony “Tony” J. Montalbano, III (Maria); Lindsay Montalbano, Jeremy Montalbano, Allison Montalbano George (Joshua); great-grandchildren, Sofia Marie Montalbano, Alessandro Anthony Montalbano, Willa Grace George; and step grandchildren, Melissa Carnesi, Dustin Carnesi, Ronnie Carnesi, Jr., and Rebecca Carnesi Dewater.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
