

Anthony (Tony) J. Scandaliato, Sr., passed away at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Connie Richards Scandaliato; his daughter Sr. Maria Goretti Scandaliato O.S.F. (nee Linda Ann) of Bapchule, AZ; his son Anthony (Tony) J. Scandaliato, Jr. of Norco; brother, Dominick (Nick) Scandaliato and his wife, Monette of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Mary Ann Pelas of Covington, LA and Lena Mae Marino and husband Joseph of Kenner; step-sons Rick Richards of New Orleans; Randy Richards and wife Carol of Baton Rouge and granddaughter Kether. He was predeceased by his first wife of 63 years, Shirley Walsh Scandaliato; his parents, Joseph and Josephine Scandaliato of Kenner; also, his brother-in-law Gene Pelas. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. A 1942 graduate of Kenner High School. Also attended Delgado College. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII after graduation and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer, serving 38 months in combat at sea on the battleship USS Washington. Recipient of 9 combat medals serving in the European Theater and Asiatic Pacific in all major battles including Leyte Gulf and Luzon. A member of American Legion Post 288 in New Orleans for 46 years. A retired sales representative of the industrial machinery, mill, and marine supplies field for 40 years. Owner of AJS Machinery & Supply. A native of Gramercy, LA and a resident of New Orleans for 46 years. His hobby was ballroom dancing which he enjoyed for many years and belonged to several dance clubs. A parishioner of St. Pius X Church, New Orleans. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Memorial Mass and celebration of his life in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home with military honors, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd on 9-11-15, following family visitation which will begin at 10:30. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred. Donations to Wounded Warrior, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Manitowoc, WI; or Rayne Memorial UMC in his memory.
