Audrey Baumgarten Planchet

Audrey was born to parents Charles B. Baumgarten and Bertha Manson on August 28th, 1935.

Audrey’s life revolved around her husband Bob, her 6 children, 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who she absolutely adored.

As her children grew up and moved from their home, Audrey and Bob were able to travel to special places, including a memorable trip to Medugorje, where they were able to reaffirm their strong faith in the Lord. Another highlight was the papal visit to New Orleans in 1987.

Audrey was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Leonard Baumgarten; and her granddaughter, Victoria Mayer Collier.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Planchet; her children, Thomas Planchet (Kevin Ann), Ann Mayer (Kevin), Mary Smith (David), John Planchet, Jim Planchet (Rhonda) and Michelle Messonnier (Stephen); grandchildren, Jessica Mayer Baudier, Janie Planchet, Elise Planchet, Mary Katherine Planchet, Katherine Steed, Jonathan Planchet, Hayley Francioni, Grace Guilliot, Benjamin Smith, Janine Bergey, Grant Planchet, Samantha Messonnier, Elizabeth Messonnier, Everett Planchet, Evan Planchet, and Ann-Nete Marie Audrey Planchet; and great grandchildren, Natalie Martin, Jaxon Collier, Katarina Collier, Madeline Baudier, Riley Baudier, Ryan Upchurch, Greer Francioni, Liam Bergey, Felix Bergey, and Stevie Smith.

In lieu of flowers, family is asking anyone who is interested and able to consider a donation to their own favorite charity.

The Planchet family would also like to thank our mom’s caregivers the past few years - Brittany, Sean, Lauren, and Delisa for the care that they gave our precious mom.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with a Mass following in the chapel at 11 AM. Audrey will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park immediately after the Mass has concluded.
