Barbara Marvin Bresler

July 10, 1946 – June 28, 2023
Obituary of Barbara Marvin Bresler
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, Barbara Marvin Bresler was reunited with her beloved husband Owen as she was surrounded by loving family. Born in Olla, Louisiana, on July 10, 1946, Barbara was self-proclaimed “prissy, petite, and proud of it.” Barb was all about family and friends and making memories.

Barbara was a “Bonus Mother” to Debbie, Steven (Suz), and Scott (Barbara) and “Bubbe” to Lenny (Madeleine), Elka, Micah, and Jordan. She was blessed with a loving family: her mother Mamie McMillin Marvin and father James Allison Marvin, her brothers Rick (Vickie) and Jim and her sister Connie (Leon). She was “Aunt Barbara” to Tiffany (Phillip), Kelly (Cory), and Courtney, Ricky (Tracey), Rachel, Ryan, and Randy (Amanda), and to many grandnieces and grandnephews. She showered love and affection on her dear Yorkies Lucas, Munchkin, and Beau; her sweet fur baby Jerry Berry; her “nephdog” Jacob Lee; and “granddog” Jamby.

We are grateful for the warm and supportive relationship Barbara shared with Miriam Bresler Warshauer Cohen, Owen’s first wife and mother of his children. She also felt the love of oodles of Bresler and Marvin families and friends from Louisiana to Israel.

Barbara’s life was an exciting journey filled with her own indelible memories which started when she became a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines and was made “head stewardess” for international flights after her very first flight. Later she became a licensed pilot. She was a dedicated community volunteer with National Council of Jewish Women New Orleans Section and served as president, co-chair of many “Angel Balls,” and most recently chair of Fox8 Defenders.

Barbara worked in commercial real estate management for many years. Most recently she worked for ten years with Montz Harcus Wealth Management as the receptionist and “organizer of everything that kept things going.”

We will forever hold on to our sweet memories of Barb as we create new memories with her always in our hearts.

A private burial will be held in Birmingham. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in her name to the LASPCA (1700 Mardi Gras Blvd., NOLA 70114) or NCJW (6221 S. Claiborne Ave., Ste, 208, NOLA 70125).
