Barbara Mabile Talley passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake Ascension. She was 88 years old. She was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, for over 50 years, prior to moving to Ascension Parish in 2018.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Godwin (Peter), Donna Veasey (Nicholas), and Pamela Evans (Kelly); grandchildren, Chandler Veasey (Brandy), Benjamin Godwin, Victoria Boudreaux (Justin), Rachel Godwin, Zachary Saucier and Kayleigh Evans; also her beloved sister-in-law, Jane Mabile, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Chandler Harris Talley; her parents, Sidney Joseph Mabile and Elder Barbier Mabile; her brother, Larry J. Mabile; and son-in-law, Steffan Baudier.

Barbara was born on November 8, 1936, in White Castle, Louisiana. After graduating from Assumption High School, she attended Spencer Business College in New Orleans. She worked as a bookkeeper at Eustis Mortgage Company, where she met her husband Chandler, and then went on to raise three daughters.

Barbara loved the Lord, reading her Bible daily, and attending church on Sundays. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church New Orleans for over 50 years, where she enjoyed volunteering her time with different ministries including Global Maritime Ministries and the Baptist Friendship House.

A visitation and funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. The interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, which is on the same grounds as the funeral home.
