Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Stevens, Jr. passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015, in Hammond, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife Lynn Stevens; five children Charles “Bob” Carnes (Mary), Sandra Bevens (Ford), William “Frank” Stevens, Polly Stevens Maggs (David), and John “Chuck” Stevens (Wendy); 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Ben retired after over 30 years from Shell Oil and Gas Company. After his retirement, he enjoyed pursuing many hobbies and interests, some of which included jewelry creation, opal mining, and traveling to and participating in Gem and Mineral shows all over the United States where he made many lifelong friends. He has authored two books on the subject of Louisiana Opal and its mining.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m.
