Betsy was born in Heidenheim an der Brenz, Germany on June 20, 1929 to Hugo and Martha Jacki. She moved to the U.S. when she was 25 and soon after met and fell in love with Andreas “Andy” Reising (of Reising’s Bakery). She was a housewife and dedicated mother to their only son, Richard “Rickey” Reising.
Betsy had a green thumb; there wasn’t a flower she didn’t like, but her absolute favorite were peonies. She was a member of the Lake Vista Garden Club. She enjoyed entertaining and was an excellent cook. Many people still remember her parties she gave when living on Stilt Street. She played cards with her card group every Wednesday. Betsy was also a member of Lake Vista Woman’s Club, NAIM, and a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Andreas “Andy” Reising; parents, Hugo and Martha Jacki; and her sister, Gudrun Seitz.
Betsy is survived by her son, Richard “Rickey” Reising, and his wife, Mary D. Reising. She is also lovingly remembered by her six nieces and nephews – Ulla Seitz, Udo Seitz (Cristelia), Uwe Seitz (Christi), Axel Seitz (Donna), Sabine Fendlason, Marcus Seitz (Kristina Miller) along with their families, all of whom brought her great joy throughout her life. Beyond her relatives, Betsy leaves behind many cherished friends who became family to her in every meaningful way.
Her family would like to give special thanks to everyone for their outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this unexpected loss. Your kindness and compassion mean more to them than words can express.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Betsy’s long life well lived on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM until the Catholic Memorial Service in the chapel at noon. Interment to follow on the same grounds in Metairie Cemetery.
