

Beverly Marie deVerges DeSonier passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, nine days before her 97th birthday. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Lake Charles, LA since Hurricane Katrina. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Judge Louis G. DeSonier, Jr; her son, Louis G. DeSonier, III, PhD.; her parents, Leila M. Bozonier deVerges and Edward Joseph deVerges, Sr.; her brother, Edward Joseph deVerges, Jr.; and her sister, Leila M. deVerges Schafer. She is survived and will be missed by her children: Dr. Keith F. DeSonier, Sr. (Dale) of Lake Charles, LA; James P. DeSonier (Cindy) of Mandeville, LA; Kim DeSonier Duckworth of New Orleans; daughter-in –law, Marcia DeSonier, Pensacola, FL; grandchildren: Emery R., Ainsley D. and Keith F. DeSonier, Jr (Stephanie); Simone L. and Lizanne I. DeSonier; Katherine M. Duckworth Beckmann (Robert, Jr.) and Elizabeth A. Duckworth Delaney (Bradley) ; great-grandchildren: Isaac K. and Evangeline M. DeSonier; Caroline L. and Robert A. Beckmann, III; Colin B. Delaney. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine deVerges Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Beverly attended Ursuline College. She was a member of the Orleans Club. She was a past member of The Louisiana Colonials, The Society of the War 1812, The Society of the Founders of New Orleans, and the Metairie Country Club. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish in Metairie, LA, prior to Hurricane Katrina.
Post- Katrina, Beverly and Louis moved to Lake Charles, LA, where they resided and made many new friends at the Villa Maria Retirement Center during their final years. The family expresses their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Lechtenberg and the many medical specialist and staff members, leaders and caregivers of Beverly during her final years at the Villa Maria, especially Louelda Taylor, Dian Harmon, Liz Soileau, Elizabeth Fontenot and Debbie Johnson. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La. 70124.
